TO ALL MIDSOUTH BANK DEBIT CARD HOLDERS

NOTICE OF TEMPORARY BLOCK ON SPECIFIED DEBIT CARD ACTIVITY

    Dear Valued Customer:

Recently a large number of our customers have experienced a rash of fraudulent debit card activity which originated through an information breach at a national processor of credit card and debit card transactions. We are in the process of issuing replacement cards to customers whose debit card information may have been exposed to unauthorized parties, a process that will take several weeks. As a preventive measure, we have blocked all signature-based debit card transactions conducted in Canada, Mexico, and all U.S. states except Tennessee, Georgia, Florida, Alabama, and South Carolina. This temporary block affects all MidSouth Bank debit card holders.

What does this mean to you?

    • When traveling outside Tennessee, use your 4-digit PIN (personal identification number) to authorize transactions.
    • If a key-pad is not available to enter your PIN, ask the merchant to manually key the card authorization.
    • For pay-at-the pump gas purchases, you will need to pay the attendant. Enter your PIN if a keypad is available, or ask the attendant to manually key the authorization.
    • When traveling outside the U.S. to countries other than Mexico or Canada, your card should work as normal.
    • Be aware our fraud monitoring service may call you to verify transactions which appear to be unusual activity. It is critical that the monitoring service has a valid number to contact you, especially when you travel. Please contact our bank before you leave to confirm we have the best number on file to reach you – in most cases, your current mobile phone number.

And remember, if you receive a call to verify activity, know that a legitimate merchant or financial institution will never ask you to reveal your card number, PIN, expiration date, or other card information for “verification” or “confirmation” purposes. Never give out account numbers or access codes to anyone.

We greatly regret any inconvenience this may cause on your part and hope you will understand that your security is our priority in taking these measures. If you have questions or specific concerns, please call us at one of the numbers below.
