Murfreesboro, Tenn. – Lee Moss, MidSouth Bank’s chairman and CEO, was honored as the recipient of the Humanitarian of the Year Award at the YMCA’s annual breakfast.

Moss is the seventh recipient of the award created by Rutherford County Family YMCA board of directors to honor those in the community who give of their time, talent and resources to make Rutherford County a better place to live. Past recipients include Bob Parks, Jack Weatherford, Dr. Liz Rhea, Kitty Murfree, John Floyd and Gordon Ferguson.

The award is presented each year at a Humanitarian Breakfast benefitting the YMCA’s Annual Giving Campaign, which helps keep the Y available to all by providing financial assistance to those who otherwise could not afford the full cost of a membership. Donations to the campaign also help the Y meet the ongoing needs of Rutherford County families by providing access to vital programs that offer affordable group and individual counseling, support for breast cancer survivors, youth sports opportunities for children and more.

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – MidSouth Bank has announced the addition of three Rutherford County professionals to its board of directors – Brian Kidd, Dr. Max Lee Moss, Jr., and Steve Steele. They join a group of bank directors who all live and work in Rutherford County.

Kidd, a certified public accountant (CPA), is the assistant controller in the financial reporting and tax area of National Healthcare Corporation (NHC). Prior to joining NHC in 2008, he had 10 years of public accounting experience serving clients in middle Tennessee and the southeast region.

Kidd also serves on the boards of The Discovery Center at Murfree Spring, Candle Wishes Foundation, The One Hundred Club of Rutherford County, Inc., and Main Street Murfreesboro/Rutherford County. He received a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Middle Tennessee State University.

“We welcome Brian’s leadership to our board,” said Lee Moss, MidSouth Bank’s chairman and CEO. “His solid financial background, community involvement and board experience will play a critical role as MidSouth Bank plans for future growth and more ways to serve our customers and our community.”

Dr. Moss is a radiologist with Midstate Radiology, Inc., and on the medical staff at Middle Tennessee Medical Center. He is a trustee of the Murfreesboro City Schools Foundation and currently serves as secretary of the Murfreesboro Soccer Club. Moss is also involved in local real estate acquisition and development.

“Dr. Moss is an excellent choice to serve on our board of directors,” said Lee Moss, MidSouth Bank’s chairman and CEO. “We look to leaders who have expertise in issues relevant to our community. With experience in healthcare and real estate development, Max can provide valuable insights and help MidSouth better support these key industries as our bank and community continue to grow.”

Steele is vice president and partner in Huddleston-Steele Engineering, Inc. He currently serves on the boards of the United Way of Rutherford and Cannon Counties and Rutherford County Chamber of Commerce, as well as on the Session of First Presbyterian Church of Smyrna. Previously, Steele served as president of the Boys and Girls Club of Rutherford County and as a director of the Linebaugh Library, Bank of the South and Mid-America Bankshares, Inc.

“Steve will add unique insight to our board of directors,” said Lee Moss, MidSouth Bank’s chairman and CEO. “Not only is he a successful businessman, his active involvement on the boards of local organizations gives him perspective on issues relevant to the community. He also has previous director experience with community banks so he will be instrumental in helping us set priorities for strategic growth.”

MURFREESBORO, Tennessee — MidSouth Bank’s board of directors has approved the promotion of four individuals in recognition of their performance as members of the bank’s executive leadership team. Lee Moss, Chairman and CEO, made the announcement last week citing contributions that each had made to MidSouth Bank’s success over the last two years.

Kevin Busbey has been named Executive Vice President and will continue to serve as the bank’s Chief Financial Officer, Treasurer and Cashier. Busbey, a 26-year veteran in the banking industry, joined MidSouth Bank as CFO in 2007 and oversees the bank’s accounting, deposit operations and information technology areas. His financial management and strong communication skills have played significant roles in the bank’s continued progress and success.

Tony Hicks has been promoted to Senior Vice President and will continue his role as Branch Administrator. Hicks joined MidSouth Bank when it first opened in 2004. He will continue to service a significant loan portfolio, in addition to managing the broad array of issues that flow through the branch office network. His dedication has been invaluable to the bank’s positive progress in both Murfreesboro and Smyrna. Hicks is an active member in the community, currently serving with the Noon Rotary Club and the Smyrna Camp of Gideon’s International.

Ronnie Martin will now serve as Senior Vice President with continuing responsibilities over MidSouth Bank’s real estate lending team. Martin played a key role in management of the bank’s real estate loan portfolio during the recent recession. His experience and leadership skills will be of even greater value to the bank as the local real estate market continues to improve. He joined the team in 2004 after serving in the financial services industry for 10 years. In addition to Martin’s volunteer involvement in the community, he currently serves on the Tennessee Small Business Development Council (TSBDC) advisory board and is attending LSU Graduate School of Banking.

Leath Ann Pomeroy was named Senior Vice President and will continue to grow her responsibilities over credit administration and loan review. She has played a critical role in strengthening the bank’s lending policies, leading efforts to respond to rapidly changing regulatory requirements. Pomeroy joined MidSouth Bank in 2006 as Vice President of Business Product Management.

MidSouth Bank began serving Rutherford County in 2004 and has five offices in Murfreesboro and Smyrna. The bank is the only locally owned and operated bank in Rutherford County. For more information on MidSouth Bank, call (615) 278-7100, or visit any of their five locations. Additional information is also available on the bank’s website at www.midsouthbanking.com.

MURFREESBORO, Tennessee — MidSouth Bank released its first quarter financial results, for the period ending March 31, 2012, and celebrated positive earnings for a ninth consecutive quarter. According to the report released by MidSouth’s board of directors, Rutherford County’s hometown bank reported a net income of approximately $367,000.

This week’s announcement follows a successful finish in 2011 when the bank reported record earnings of $1,062,000. MidSouth’s capital ratios remained well above the industry’s well-capitalized standards as a result of raising over $6.4 million of additional capital in two preferred stock offerings.

According to Chairman & CEO Lee Moss, “MidSouth’s leadership is enthusiastic and encouraged by our great start in 2012. There is no doubt that the persistence and diligence of our entire team is having a positive effect on our bottom line.”

Moss also attributed some of the bank’s ongoing success to a continued improvement in sustainable core earnings. Provisions for loan losses have dropped dramatically over the last two years as problem loans have been reduced.
