MIDSOUTH BANK (In Organization) Announces New Board Member, Jimmy Allen Article courtesy of the Daily News Journal April 30, 2003 Lee Moss, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer and Ben Weatherford, President, of MidSouth Bank (In Organization), Murfreesboro, have announced that Jimmy Allen has been named to the Board of Directors of the Bank. Allen is the President of Venture Express, Inc.; Creative Transportation; Allen's Cartage Company, Lavergne, Tennessee and co-owner of Center Hill Marine & Yacht Club. He is active in all phases of transportation and has served as past Chairman of Tennessee Trucking Association and President of Nashville Motor Freight. He also served as Chairman of the Nashville Traffic Association. Allen attended Austin Peay State University in Clarksville, Tennessee and the University of Tennessee in Nashville. He formerly served as a member of the Board of Directors of Rutherford Bank & Trust, Murfreesboro and Independent Bankshares Corp., Gallatin, Tennessee. Allen's professional accomplishments include being selected as Nashville Business Journal's Executive of the Year. He is a supporter of Vanderbilt Children's Hospital and Ronald McDonald House. Allen and his wife, Donna, have four children and five grandchildren. They attend North Boulevard Church of Christ in Murfreesboro. "While serving with Jimmy on a previous bank board, I grew to appreciate his business intellect and creativity, as well as his being a 'results-oriented' person," stated Ben Weatherford, President. "Jimmy's business accomplishments are quite impressive, considering that he built his transportation companies from 'ground zero' to what are now good-sized, vibrant trucking entities," Weatherford continued. "The skills he exhibited in successfully developing and operating his businesses will translate well in providing direction to MIDSOUTH BANK," he concluded. In early January, 2003, Jack Weatherford, Senior Chairman; Lee Moss, Chairman and CEO; and Ben Weatherford, President, of MIDSOUTH BANK (In Organization) announced their intention of founding the new Bank. It will be headquartered in Murfreesboro and will likely be capitalized with at least $15 million raised by organizers from residents in Middle Tennessee. The initial plans for the new Bank include two offices in Murfreesboro and one in the Smyrna/LaVergne area, but site locations have yet to be announced. The organization has set up an office to handle inquiries about the bank at 1138 Dow Street in Murfreesboro and can be reached at 494-4949. Stock subscriptions are currently being accepted at that location. A cutoff date has not been decided but could possibly occur in mid-May. |
