MIDSOUTH BANK (In Organization) Announces New Board Member, Roseann Barton Article courtesy of the Daily News Journal June 29, 2003 Lee Moss, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer and Ben Weatherford, President, of MidSouth Bank (In Organization), Murfreesboro, have announced that Roseann Barton has been named to the Board of Directors of the Bank. Barton currently is employed with Murfreesboro City Schools as Principal of Reeves Rogers Elementary School. Prior to becoming principal, she taught in the classroom for fifteen years at Reeves Rogers. Barton received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education from Middle Tennessee State University in 1985. Continuing her education at MTSU, she received a Master of Education Degree in Administration/Supervision in 1987 and Education Specialist in Administration/Supervision in 1988. Barton has been awarded for her outstanding teaching and administrative duties over the years. Most recently, she was the District Winner for Murfreesboro Education Association Distinguished Administrator in 2003. In 2000 she was District Winner, as well as state finalist, for Tennessee Teacher of the Year; a member of Who's Who in American Teachers in 1998; and has been a Career Ladder Three Teacher since 1993. Barton's professional membership includes Association of Elementary Principals; Principals' Study Council; Delta Kappa Gamma; a past member of International Reading Association and Kappa Delta Pi. While her profession keeps her busy, she also believes in giving back to the community. She is an active member of Murfreesboro Charity Circle and Oakland High School Booster Club; past member of Middle Tennessee Medical Center Ambassadors; Murfreesboro Junior League; Blue Raider Athletic Association; Rutherford County American Heart Walk System Coordinator; The United Way Allocations Committee; and The Discovery Center. She is a graduate of Leadership Rutherford. Barton, husband Gary and children Hughes and Sarah Jane are members of First United Methodist Church. "Roseann, as a lifelong resident of Rutherford County, is extremely involved in her community and is a much respected educator and principal," said Lee Moss, Chairman and CEO of the Bank. "I have been honored to know her for many years, and we are excited to have her join our Board of Directors," he continued. In early January, 2003, Jack Weatherford, Senior Chairman; Lee Moss, Chairman and CEO; and Ben Weatherford, President, of MIDSOUTH BANK (In Organization) announced their intention of founding the new Bank. It will be headquartered in Murfreesboro and will likely be capitalized with at least $20 million raised by organizers from residents in Middle Tennessee. The initial plans for the new Bank include offices in Murfreesboro and in the Smyrna/LaVergne area, but site locations have yet to be announced.
