Caudle received a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from Middle Tennessee State University in 1971. He continued his education through the American Institution of Banking; Tennessee School of Banking at Vanderbilt University, and the National Clearing House Association's The Payment Institute at the University of Colorado. Caudle began his banking career in 1971 at Murfreesboro Bank & Trust Company (now SunTrust Bank). He started as a Management Trainee, and within two years was promoted to Branch Manager. When Murfreesboro Bank & Trust moved to their new location in 1978, Caudle became the Data Processing Manager. Other positions he held while with the bank included Bank Operations Manager; Marketing and Product Development; Corporate Services Manager; and Commercial Lending Officer. Caudle has been active in professional organizations throughout his 37 years in banking. He serves on the Board of Directors of the Tennessee Automated Clearing House Association and served as former president; a board member of the National Automated Clearing House Association; and a NACHA Education and Training committee member. While maintaining a busy schedule in his banking career, Caudle has been very active in the Rutherford County community. He served on the Murfreesboro Historic Zoning Commission from August 1986 through October 2007 as a member and served as chairman. In 1991 he was a graduate of Leadership Rutherford and has been a board member. Other affiliations in which Caudle is involved include Board of Directors for 10 years and Board Chair in 2005 of Main Street; Assistant Scoutmaster of Boy Scout Troop 416; Eta Gamma Chapter of Sigma Chi fraternity House Corporation President; and City of Murfreesboro Comprehensive Land Use committee member. Caudle was honored with the Distinguished Sales & Marketing Award from Sales & Marketing Executives of Nashville in 1994. Because of his extensive involvement with the Boy Scouts, he was presented with the Long Rifle Award by the Trail of Tears District Middle Tennessee Council Boy Scouts of America. He and his wife, Melinda, who have two sons, Miller and Dallas, attend St. Paul’s Episcopal Church.
