MIDSOUTH BANK (In Organization) Announces New Board Member, Percy E. Dempsey III Article courtesy of the Daily News Journal June 22, 2003 Lee Moss, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer and Ben Weatherford, President, of MidSouth Bank (In Organization), Murfreesboro, have announced that Percy E. Dempsey III has been named to the Board of Directors of the Bank. Dempsey is currently a member of Dempsey Vantrease & Follis PLLC, an accounting firm in Murfreesboro. He serves as the Member in Charge of Consulting Services.
Dempsey received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting from Austin Peay State University in 1971. He was designated a Certified Public Accountant in 1973 and Certified Valuation Analyst in 1997. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants; Tennessee Society of Certified Public Accountants; and National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts. Dempsey has been employed in the accounting profession since college graduation when he began his career with Arthur Andersen & Co. He formed his owned company in 1978 and was joined by other accountants in 1980. While he maintains a busy professional schedule, Dempsey believes in serving his community through leadership roles in civic and community organizations. He currently serves as a board member of the Center For The Arts. He is past president of the Rutherford County Chamber of Commerce; past member of the Children’s Discovery Center board; and past board member of Rutherford Bank & Trust. Dempsey is married to the former Elizabeth Harris, and has three children, Rebecca, Kathryn and Will. "Having served with Bubba on a previous bank board, I gained an appreciation for the breadth and depth of his business acumen that extends well beyond the accounting industry,” he continued. “The skills he possesses will augment our board of directors, and we are fortunate to have him associated with the organization of MIDSOUTH BANK." In early January, 2003, Jack Weatherford, Senior Chairman; Lee Moss, Chairman and CEO; and Ben Weatherford, President, of MIDSOUTH BANK (In Organization) announced their intention of founding the new Bank. It will be headquartered in Murfreesboro and will likely be capitalized with at least $20 million raised by organizers from residents in Middle Tennessee. The initial plans for the new Bank include offices in Murfreesboro and in the Smyrna/LaVergne area, but site locations have yet to be announced. The organization has an office to handle inquiries about the bank at 1138 Dow Street in Murfreesboro and can be reached at 494-4949. Stock subscriptions are currently being accepted at that location.
