MIDSOUTH BANK (In Organization) Announces New Board Member, John Floyd Article courtesy of the Daily News Journal March 5, 2003 Lee Moss, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of MIDSOUTH BANK (In Organization), Murfreesboro, has announced that John Floyd has been named to the Board of Directors of the Bank. Floyd is owner and President of Ole South Properties, Inc. located at 275 Robert Rose Drive in Murfreesboro, TN. He began buying rental property in his early twenties and now has built his original holdings of a few small houses into over 350 units across the county. In 1985, Floyd joined the firm of Snow and Wall Realtors which led to his entry into the homebuilding business in 1986. While actively involved in the building industry, he remained a top salesperson in the area and was named the top real estate agent in Rutherford County for five consecutive years. For the last four years Floyd has been recognized by TVA as the largest Energy Right, independently owned builder in their seven state region, which furthers his commitment to providing affordable housing for first time homebuyers. In 2001 Ole South Properties Inc. became the largest builder in the state of Tennessee. In recognition of his efforts, the Rutherford County Chamber of Commerce named Floyd the Business Man of the Year for 2001. While he has worked diligently to grow his business, Floyd has found time to be active in the community. His most recent professional accomplishments include serving on the board of the Homebuilders' Association where he was president for 2002. He also served on the Blackman Land Study Advisory Board; the Murfreesboro Housing Authority Board; and as a member of the City of Murfreesboro's Commerce Center Task Force. Floyd has served as a board member for
the United Way and the Boys and Girls Clubs where he has organized
fundraisers over the years. The United Way has recognized him for his
contributions to the new Children's Discovery Center, Special Kids,
Heart Ball and Special Olympics. His company, Ole South Properties Inc.,
is a corporate sponsor of the Cason Lane School. Floyd is also a strong
supporter of Middle Tennessee State University. "John's successes in the real estate industry are outstanding, and he has done it through his own initiatives," stated Lee Moss, Chairman and CEO. "Fortunately for our community, he has been a tremendous supporter," he said. "John tackles life with enthusiasm, and we are delighted that he has joined our Board." "We will capitalize on his leadership to guide us," Moss added. In early January, 2003, Jack Weatherford, Senior Chairman; Lee Moss, Chairman and CEO; and Ben Weatherford, President, of MidSouth Bank (In Organization) announced their intention of founding the new Bank. It will be headquartered in Murfreesboro and will likely be capitalized with at least $15 million raised by organizers from residents in Middle Tennessee. The initial plans for the new Bank include two offices in Murfreesboro and one in Smyrna/LaVergne area, but site locations have yet to be announced. The organization has set up an office to handle inquiries about the bank at 1138 Dow St. in Murfreesboro and can be reached at 494-4949. |
