Lee Moss, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer and Ben Weatherford, President, of MidSouth Bank (In Organization), Murfreesboro, have announced that Bob Parks has been named to the Board of Directors of the Bank.

Parks is the owner of Bob Parks Realty, Rutherford County’s largest real estate company which ranks second in sales volume in Middle Tennessee.

Parks received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Sociology from Middle Tennessee State University in 1970. Following graduation, he was employed as an underwriter for State Farm Insurance. Upon obtaining his realtor’s license in 1972, Parks joined Clark Maples Realty in Murfreesboro.

In 1975 Parks opened Bob Parks Realty with two agents, a secretary and himself. There are now over 400 full time agents. In addition to its headquarters and two real estate offices in Murfreesboro, the company has offices in Smyrna, Franklin, Brentwood, Shelbyville, Antioch, Hermitage and Hendersonville. Bob Parks Realty also acquired Sharon Langford and Associates in Green Hills in 1999. Parks was honored with the Middle Tennessee Association of Realtors Hall of Fame Award in 2002.

Parks feels that the true measure of commitment is one’s willingness to give not only of his resources but also of his personal time. He has served as president of numerous civic and community organizations including the Rutherford County Chamber of Commerce, the local Board of Realtors, Leadership Rutherford, Rutherford 20/20 and the Optimist Club. He is also a board member of the Rutherford County United Way and formerly served as chairman of the 1997 campaign. For these contributions to the community, as well as many others, Parks was awarded the 1996 Community Service Award in Rutherford County. In 1998 he was honored as Middle Tennessee State University’s Distinguished Alumni; received the MTSU College of Business Exemplar Award in 2001; and was president of Blue Raider Athletic Association in 2000. Since 2000, Bob Park’s Realty has been a corporate sponsor for the Middle Tennessee Chapter of Make-A-Wish Foundation.

"We are elated to have Bob as an organizer and director of the Bank," stated Lee Moss, Chairman & CEO. "We are very fortunate to have someone like Bob who is extremely involved in many areas of our community," he said. "I have known him many years and believe his Christian values, business expertise, and enthusiasm will be tremendous assets to the board of directors of our Bank," he continued.

In early January, 2003, Jack Weatherford, Senior Chairman; Lee Moss, Chairman and CEO; and Ben Weatherford, President, of MIDSOUTH BANK (In Organization) announced their intention of founding the new Bank. It will be headquartered in Murfreesboro and will likely be capitalized with at least $20 million raised by organizers from residents in Middle Tennessee. The initial plans for the new Bank include offices in Murfreesboro and in the Smyrna/LaVergne area, but site locations have yet to be announced. The organization has an office to handle inquiries about the bank at 1138 Dow Street in Murfreesboro and can be reached at 494-4949. Stock subscriptions are currently being accepted at that location.
